The toolmaker’s job is to manufacture and produce good tools and as well repair damaged tools. He/she is responsible for turning already existing tools into an engineering print depending on the standard of production required.

  • Ensure documentation and records are maintained in the ERP system.
  • Tooling component sizes, fit, form & function are verified by Toolmaker.
  • Review product quality and make necessary improvements.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • Accurate recording of time including time-clock, job activities, and other data entry.
  • Proactively review designs, verbal instructions, and other materials that you work from; in the spirit of preventing mistakes or eliminating possible problems that could occur.
  • Compliance with relevant policies.
  • Perform any other related jobs to maintain production given by the Toolroom Manager.
  • Accurate recording of time including time-clock, job activities, and other data entry.
  • Fabrication of QC gauges, machine parts, which require precision grinding and assembly.
  • Troubleshoot, manufacture spare components and repair tools to adhere to design and production standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams as required.
  • Attend training activities, train and help others as required.
  • Modify tools to achieve and improve production volumes.
  • Modify tools per customer revisions.
  • Build new tools to meet engineering design criteria, piece part quality and production requirements.

Educational qualification

  • The individual must have completed 4years of apprenticeship in making tools and in die production
  • He must be a graduate from highschool or a receipt of an equivalent degree in replacement.

Job Experience (Toolmaker Job Precision Resource Shelton Connecticut USA)

  • Knowledge and experience with using all types of measuring tools (Micrometre, Calliper, toolmakers scope, etc.)
  • Knowledge of English & Metric systems of measurement.
  • Basic knowledge of OHSA regulations TS – 16949 quality systems.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience using manual tool room equipment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in building stamping dies.
